  • A relative in majuro informed me a few minutes ago (via MSN) that
continental had to make an emergency landing due to engine failure
earlier today and that thankfully no one was hurt. That is all i was
told...anybody in majuro care to give more information?

  • Less media in the islands.
  • This is true. The plane is still sitting on the runway, engine caught fire last night, firetrucks, etc., were ready for them. No one got hurt. Another plane came in this morning, took everyone to Honolulu.

  • My cousin was on the plane. It was 55 minutes before passengers got off the plane. When they asked if they could get off to calm down and get fresh air. Continental officals said no because they were getting ready to take off before the crews hours to work was up. People were on panic mood and needed to get fresh air and to keep them on the plane was wrong. Also the emergency response was poor. The ambalance was not let into the facility to asses the passengers for psychological factors. The first person response to the plane was Continental manager and not first responders. People should of been let out period and deal with the situation later. It was also noted that others sittingn by the wing saw a brown tarp getting caught on the plane and others say it was a mechanically failure. more to come.

That is weird and looks like something that to should be looked into and brought to the attention of the FAA and NTSB. I would think the most logical, especially when the emergency involved a fire in one of the engine, to do was to deplane/evacuate all the pax as soon as the plane came to a halt. Maybe the exits were all on the side where the fire was on. Maybe that's why.

But if the two agencies mentioned: FAA or NTSB were not called in except for reps from the airline, then nothing will be resolved.

  • Please, no speculation. Let's wait for the facts. We Marshallese like speak before we know the facts. My mother was on the plane and she told me she heard the loud pops, followed by engine fire on the right side of the plane. From her seat, she observed fire spewing out of the right engine. Thank God everyone's safe!
  • Facts, three speculations, Bird, Tarp, and mechanical failure. There were passengers who didn't take the special flight the next day cause of the shock. No hospital personal to asses anyone. No first responders and no national disaster planning personal there to coordinate. This would make a great case for any of those passengers who would want to make a million dollar and lawyers should love this situation.

  • Bolen KOLEEJ ak bao ne me etiltil kilen men eo.
  • not everyone went on the flight the next day and no debrees from sign of bird or tarp, but parts were flown in from Guam on the special flight to take the passengers but not all went on the flight, they were too shocked. I herd the crew had to get off the ground right away or they will have no more flight hours and will be penalized by FAA and would be stuck for the next day in Majuro. The plane almost flew again but some passengers wanted insurance that the plane was throughly checked and they found problems with the engine which grounded the plane and parts had to be flown in. There was descriptions of people praying for the first time on the plane and some where hugging the person next to them even if they didn't know who they were in the air while the explosions were happening.

  • kiddenen is absolutely right, plane should have been grounded until necessary inspections are conducted by the the NTSB and/or the FAA.
