Census  Bottom

  • This was fowarded to me from a friend.
    Contact him @: maluchmai@yahoo.com

FYI: A census of Micronesians(Palauans, FSMers, and
RMIers)will take place in Hawaii this summer. Ground
enumeration will take place on Oahu, and from there,
enumerators and census coordinator along with
supevisors will enumerate fellow Micros on the
surrounding islands by telephone. It's a 2 month
project, starting in June and ending in July.

I am in the process of communicating with FSM Embassy
in DC and Consulate office in Hawaii to solicit
potential enumerators among an interested pool of
FSMers. However, potential enumerators will go thru a
federal screening and testing procedure to identify 29
actual enumerators(this number will be proportionate
to the FSM migrant population on Oahu---meaning, if
group A has the most population, then that group will
get the most enumerators and so on.)

Interested Palauans and RMIers can also send me their
names and contact info, and I will relay the info to
the respective embassy and project coordinator.

If you are interested, do let me know your name and
contact info(email and convenient phone #).

Or, if you need addition info., feel free to let me
    know as well.

  • Hello, will you be posting the results when the survey has been completed? Also when do you think that the info might be available? Thanks in advance.
  • Thanks for the info. BTW have you heard anything as far as the status of the project and how things are going?
  • THE number of Freely Associated States citizens residing in the CNMI may have increased by almost 11 percent between 1998 and 2003 based on preliminary data released by the Department of Commerce, Variety learned.

The preliminary data showed that as of Aug. 16, there were 1,103 Micronesian household units in the CNMI.
About 40 percent or 442 of these household units were Palauans; 389 were Chuukese; 179 were Pohnpeians; 46 were Yapese; 24 were Marshallese; and 23 Kosraeans.
In terms of the number of persons living in those Micronesian households, 39 percent or 1,946 were Chuukese; 36 percent or 1,779 were Palauans; 755 were Pohnpeians; 252 were Yapese; 130 were Marshallese; and, 82 were Kosraeans.
