Picture 0 for Marshall Islands: Monday Meeting to Present Taiwan Scholarship Opportunities

The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) wishes to inform the general public of the upcoming 2012 scholarship opportunities currently available to Marshallese students with high school diplomas.  The public is invited to attend a presentation, organized jointly by the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Ministry of Education and the Taiwan Embassy to introduce the scholarships, at 3:30 p.m. on March 12, 2012, at the International Convention Center (ICC) in Majuro, Marshall Islands.

While Monday’s public program will introduce this year’s available programs, the  Embassy wishes to take this opportunity to feature two major types of scholarships among the many offered to the RMI:

1. Taiwan ICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Programs

- All-English degree (undergraduate for 4 years and graduate for 2 years) programs
- Steps to apply:
1. Applicants will have to choose their interested major from a list of the Universities/Colleges that provide ICDF Scholarship Programs.
2. Applicants then are required to finish their own applications, one from the school they choose and the other from Taiwan ICDF on line.
3. Applicants will print out those two applications along with all necessary documents required by the school and ICDF and submit all of them to the Embassy at least 10 working days before application deadline for the Embassy. (Deadlines may vary on an university to university basis, which are usually between 31 March to 30 April 2012.)
4. Taiwan ICDF and the Admission Department of the schools will review the applications and then decide whether to award scholarship. Students will be informed of the results individually by Taiwan ICDF.
- The Taiwan ICDF On-line application website: http://www.icdf.org.tw/TSP/Register.aspx

- Upon completion of the 1st year Mandarin Chinese language training, students must pass a TOCFL level 2 (or above) exam as a necessary requirement to continue their scholarship education to the actual degree program.
- For the 1st year Mandarin Chinese language training, the amount of the monthly stipend will be the same as that of the MOFA Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship Program (NT25,000, approximately US$830)
- Steps to apply:
1. Applicants must complete application forms and provide all required documents and have them sent to the Embassy no later than 20 April 2012.
