Picture 0 for Marshall Islands: WUTMI Re-opening Employment Position

WUTMI is re-opening the position of Public Awareness Coordinator under the iBRAVE project. The new Coordinator will attend trainings to build capacity to successfully implement the project.

One of WUTMI’s visions is the elimination of domestic violence/interpersonal violence (DV/IPV) in the Marshall Islands.

WUTMI submitted its proposal “Initiative for a Better Response to Address Violence Everywhere” (iBRAVE) to the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women to address violence against women in the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI).  WUTMI’s iBRAVE proposal was selected and awarded funds to implement iBRAVE in the RMI.

Through iBRAVE, WUTMI will work to accomplish three of the five key national outcomes outlined in the Secretary-General’s UNiTE Campaign 2008-2015.  These include: 1) increased public awareness about the high prevalence of domestic violence and the need to reduce and prevent it; 2) the adoption and implementation of multi-sectoral national action plans; and 3) the adoption and enforcement of national laws to address and punish domestic violence.   iBRAVE includes an awareness and education component for 100 first responders (60  police, 40 health care providers), and the development and implementation of response protocols for their respective fields.
