Republic of China (Taiwan) Ambassador George T.K. Li joined top Marshall Islands officials at Friday’s christening ceremony for the latest Majuro Atoll Local Government (MALGov) development project including a public restroom facility for the park and new MALGOV heavy equipment.
Republic of the Marshall Islands President Christopher Loeak, Minister of Foreign Affairs Phillip Muller, Majuro Senator David Kramer attended the dedication.
"Since Hon. Mayor Mudge Samuel assumed office, this was Majuro Atoll Local Government’s third major development projects that utilized the Republic of China (Taiwan) grant," reported the Taiwan Embassy in Majuro.
In FY 2013, the RMI national government allocated $2 million (US dollars) for the local government development projects, and out of this $2 million, $1.1 million are from the ROC (Taiwan) annual grant.
Ambassador Li praised MALGov’s achievements and said that MALGov has set a good example to other local governments.
