Articles: Taiwan Donates Solar Laptop Learning Systems to Marshall Islands
In addition to its annual grant to the RMI government, the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) will donate Solar Laptop Learning Systems for schools in outer atolls. This US$200,000 project, comprised 63 solar-powered laptops 21 printers, and teaching materials aims to improve the educational facilities for the students in 21 schools lacking electricity and access to technology.
A signing ceremony is taking place at 11:00 am on Friday, June 29, 2012 at ICC. MOE Minister Hilda Heine will sign a contract agreement with Mr. Sam Min, a representative from Motech Industries, Inc., the supplier of the solar laptop learning systems. The ceremony will be witnessed by ROC (Taiwan) Ambassador George T.K. Li and RMI government officials.
MOE will receive the solar laptop learning systems within 4 months after the agreement is signed and is responsible for distribution and installation of the equipment in 21 schools. Each school will receive 3 laptops and 1 printer.
